Junior League 2011

Autumn Season

DIVISION 1

The final meeting of the Autumn season of the Junior Karate League finished with a bang.

The turn out was huge with over 120 karateka under 16 yrs in attendance. Nearly all of whom were black and brown belts. This surely is the reason Shikon have become so dominant in English Karate over the last 15 years. The Junior league for many years has been a real hot bed of future stars.

The standard today was as good as ever with 7 English champions present , plus two medallists from the recent U21 Europeans in Gyor Hungary (Dani Lester and Anna Bott from the Kamikaze squad).

In Division 1 the Warlords and Panthers took the main honours both winning two divisions each.

In the U35k the Warlords trio of Christopher Ashwell, Nabil Khan and Shakir Joseph remained unbeaten winning all of their 15 matches throughout the season. But as all three are either current or former English Champions it was a fairly good bet that they would win their division. They finished their fixtures with a 9-3 win against closest rivals Kamkazes.

In the U45k section in division 1 the Panthers managed to hang on to the two point lead they had coming into the match day with wins over 3 of the opposing teams dropping points only to the eventual runners up Warlords who despite winning all their matches failed to catch up champions Panthers. This had been one of the most hotly contested divisions, so well done to the Panthers for reaching the finishing line first..
